New flights will be available from British Airways to St Kitts and these new additions have been fully supported by the St Kitts government. The flights will fly from Gatwick airport in London and this exciting event was celebrated in London at the World Travel Market.
Over in St Kitts journalists were treated to a champagne reception by the St Kitts Tourist Authority. The entertainment included the St Kitts & Nevis Masqueraders from Manchester and clowns.
The new flight schedules are due to commence on the 10th January 2009 and this will be a first time event as until now there have been no established UK airlines running a service to St Kitts.
The tourism minister for St Kitts and Nevis, Ricky Skerritt commented:
‘This timely BA service reinforces and supports a key part of the tourism strategy for St. Kitts, which is to increase high-end tourism. I applaud BA for expanding its Caribbean itinerary at a time when other airlines have been reducing capacity. The new BA service is already attracting attention in the UK marketplace from tour operators and travellers who have not previously shown an interest in St Kitts.’
A Boeing 777 will be used for the new schedule offering the following seating - 216 World Traveller, 40 Club World, and 24 World Travellers Plus.
