I have been waiting till my trip to New York in September, so won’t have to worry about the weather there too much – although the heat in a towering city like the Big Apple can drive you out to Brooklyn or New Jersey to one of the many man-made beaches where you can sip on a beer or two in the sun!
Most people like to brave the cold winters there and do some Christmas shopping, but if you go towards the end of the summer (when the heat is not so overbearing), you have cooler breezes and sunny days where you can walk around everywhere, visiting the many beautiful parks dotted around the city. Add to that all the shopping pleasures of the city and you have the perfect balance for your holiday!

This morning I received a MichaelJackson.com Newsletter revealing that film drawn from the tragic singer’s last rehearsals back in July and behind-the-scenes footage will be released in cinemas and theatres around the world from October 30th 2009.
The This Is It concerts were due to go ahead at the O2 in London in July (and I had tickets for 24th July), but the legendary entertainer’s passing shocked the world, just days before the shows were to begin. Sony Chairman and CEO Michael Lynton has declared that This Is It has the full backing of the Jackson family and The Estate of Michael Jackson.
The show will be presented in high definition with digital sound quality. The film will offer select sequences in 3-D and will also provide a career retrospective and feature interviews with a selection of Jackson’s friends and those who had worked with him over the years before his death from a heart attack.

If you are still thinking of going somewhere nice this summer for your holidays, then do not despair – there are plenty of last minute deals for the discerning traveller.
Many of my friends have enjoyed cheap camping holidays in Wales while others have braved it across the English Channel to France (by car of course) for a sunny holiday break. If camping seems like your kind of fun, be careful to pick the right campsite.
If you like camping AND music – rock, indie or dance – then you could still try and get last minute tickets to one of this year’s remaining festivals; either T in The Park or The V Festival. You may get bogged down in the mud while you try and erect your faltering tent – but hey, this is all part of the fun!

Shell Island is one of the biggest campsites in Europe. Based in North Wales, the campsite boasts stunning views of the amazing Welsh countryside – including Cardigan Bay and Snowdonia National Park.
The campsite is proving very popular with families and couples as it provides excellent facilities for all campers and you will be sure to find an ideal pitch somewhere on its 300 acres of land devoted to camping.
There are however, a few things to bear in mind first before arriving at Shell Island. Tent pitches are not allocated and it is first come first served, although you must not pitch within 20 metres of another tent, unless agreed with neighbouring campers. You will need your own mode of transport as visitors arriving by bus or train are now allowed to camp. Finally, campers must check in at reception between 8.00 am and 8pm (9pm on Fridays) and collect their car park pass.
For those who prefer a bit more comfort to their holiday experience, but still want to take in the breathtaking Welsh landscape then there are also three flats which can be rented. These flats are all centrally heated with full catering equipment and facilities; they are located within the holiday complex at the centre of the island.

If you are in need of a holiday as the summer season gets into full swing, then you’ll be pleased to hear there are still great deals to be had – especially in Europe. The British weather has taken a turn for the worse over the past month and the bleak outlook for August has led to many (including myself) to look for a cheap getaway before the autumn sets in.
I have booked a cheapish flight to New York in September, but for those looking for a bargain closer to home the situation looks promising.
Despite news from the OAG that up to 140 routes serving Britain and mainland Europe have disappeared this year, there are still flight deals out there – but you need to be quick.
In fact, a website I champion regularly, Moneysavingexpert.com has been announcing cheap flight deals for the past month. These deals included £1 flights to Europe, although this particular promotion has now ended. Use their flight checker to get a deal while you still can.
